Because a mixtape is for sharing.
This is the first time that I’ve done a Mixtape Memories, so what better place to start than with one of my all time favourite bands, The Blood Brothers.
Hailing from Seattle, this noisy five-piece was one of the most original and unique groups to have made music in the last 10 years. Their thunderous sound draws a whole heap of influences ranging from Hardcore to Jazz, and the way in which they structured beautifully descriptive lyrics surrounded by a barrage of Punk-lead aesthetic was painfully impressive. The decade of music they unleashed upon us was way ahead of its time, and in years to come you’ll wonder how this band ever slipped past you.
My only negative point, which has got nothing to do with the band at all, is that I didn’t go and see them on their last ever UK tour back in 2007. They introduced me to a world of music that I barely knew existed, and unknowingly shaped the foundations of my future self. So for that I am grateful, and I’d like to welcome you to my mixtape.
