RIP David ‘Honeyboy’ Edwards

On the 29th August 2011, delta blues guitarist and singer, David ‘Honeyboy’ Edwards passed away at his home aged 96. The grammy award winning musician is thought to have been the last known person alive that had personal connections with legendary blues player Robert Johnson, and was present the night that Johnson was killed by poisoned whiskey.

During the early 40s Honeyboy recorded several songs in Mississippi for the Library of Congress, then ten years later he began recording commercially and released the album Who Maybe Your Regular Be. Over the next 60 years of his life he went on to record 15 albums, win several awards and authored the book, The World Don’t Owe Me Nothing.
